Change sensor size

Postby timb » 15 Mar 2010, 05:33

I shoot video and motion film pictures and would love to use your great program with motion (film or video) cameras. It would be great to be able to choose image sensor size eg 35mm (motion) 24.4mm x 13.7mm (Super35mm) or 16mm or Red One 24mm x 13mm etc.

The layout and usability otherwise is great !

Thanks for all your hard work !!!

Cheers, Tim

Hi Tim, good idea! Actually I didn't think at all at video devices. I have to find information about video cameras and add them to the pre-configured device list.

As a workaround you still can create your video cameras manually in WinMoDof. The most important parameter when you create a camera is the Circle of Confusion (which is actually the maximum diameter of the circle of confusion for your device to have a resulting image sharp enough to be considered as acceptable by the human eye). So if you find or calculate this maximum circle of confusion you will be able to create the camera manually. You can find a way to calculate the circle of confusion limit here --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circle_of_confusion.

Thank you for your idea, I will think seriously about it!

Thanks for considering Video. I have looked at alot of windows mobile DOF programs and yours is by far the best looking I have seen. For the video cameras could you just put a few generic type cameras in the pre-configured device list, eg. 1/3 inch sensor cameras, 1/2 inch sensor cameras, 2/3 inch sensor cameras, Red One camera. Then film cameras 16mm and 35mm. this should cover most possibilities.

Thanks again !!
